More craftiness
This will be a post that does a combination of things. First, a quick update on my life, then pictures and explanations of the other projects I completed last year, and finally a short list of resolutions for the new year. Ready? Let's get going! (this, is for you Allison) ;)
I have been in Colorado for six months now! It is absolutely crazy to think about, but I'm learning where everything is and I don't get lost nearly as often anymore. I have obtained a library card, checked out some local eateries, joined a community choir and am very involved with ministries at my church. I've hosted visitors twice and my parents are coming in two weeks!
Last year (2011) I set a goal to make five handmade things for five different people (family or friends) and I actually accomplished it! I know, I'm as surprised as you are...it's not that I lack creativity or the ability to make things, just have a little trouble with motivation at times. The first two things I made have already been posted on and pictures are up, so I thought I would just follow suit with the other three.
Up first: these are just some christmas ornaments I mod-podged and boxes covered with wrapping paper.
The next one is near and dear to my heart. A lot of time and love went into this...and I'm so happy it turned out so well. It is the same idea as what I made for my brother and sister-in-law, except bigger and the cuteness factor was turned up just a notch. ;)
This is how it began...first glimmerings of creative genius
Finished project
And these are just some things I put together for Regina's baby shower.
And now, resolutions...recently I have been convicted about stewardship issues and how I choose to use my time and resources. Amazingly enough, throughout this past year I have realized how much more special and personal handmade gifts can be. And I want to use my talents/skills/abilities to first of all glorify God, but also to give to those that I love. So, I bought a crochet book. I know how, just HATE sitting still...I think my mom is still in shock from when I first told her. Also I've started stamping cards, nothing too complicated, but definitely cheaper than hallmark and I can choose what I want to write inside. So, without being too wordy here they are!
- Tithe regularly ~ not just my money, but strive to tithe my time as well
- Whenever possible, make gifts for others (especially family)
- Be more healthy (I know this is vague, but that makes it more likely that I will accomplish it, right?)
Until next time!
